Assessment of Seismic Bearing Capacity of a Strip Footing Resting on Reinforced Earth Bed using Pseudo-Static Analysis

The use of geosynthetic reinforcement to enhance the ultimate load-bearing capacity and reduce anticipated settlement shallow foundation has gained sufficient attention in geotechnical field. improved performance is achieved by providing one or more layers geosynthetics below foundation. full wraparound technique proved be efficient for confinement soil mass reduction however lacks literature ascertain performances such footing under dynamic loading. In view above, present study examines effect having a finite length with ends as layer, placed horizontally at suitable depth using element modeling (FEM) evaluates strip resting on loose dense coarse-grained earth beds seismic loading further compared those unreinforced bed. Moreover, horizontal acceleration coefficient (k<sub>h</sub>) been investigated varying k<sub>h</sub> from 0.1 0.6 an interval 0.1, both reinforced bed strata. Furthermore, this demonstrates that adopting new practice foundations, it possible support relatively heavier structures static well without allowing large settlements. From outcomes study, noted sand found 60% 18% soils friction angle 25° 40°, respectively respective condition.
